If your parents knew you were this stupid, would they be proud?

Religious Despots

It always amazes me that so many religions, even though they claim the authority and power of the creator of the universe, bang on about certain books and films being 'best avoided'.
They tell us they do this to protect us.

Harry Potter has been condemned by right wing christians.
I can't imagine why.
It is all about magic.
For a group of people who believe that a god man saved the world by allowing himself to be killed and that if we symbolically eat his body and drink his blood and then telepathically ask him to rule over us so that we wont end up in eternal damnation because a snake convinced a woman to convince a man to eat an apple from a magic tree, to object to a book about magic is absolutely astounding.

We often forget one very important thing.
To religion, the truth is a threat.
The truth is what exposes religion as being the twaddle it is.
For that reason, religions do not like, not have any interest in, the truth.
Nor in anything that might inspire people to think for themselves.
religion needs to maintain its lies so that the followers don't have to re assess their views and understanding of absolutely anything.
It is far easier for them just to reject truth in favour of complete and utter rubbish.
I have no objection to anyone believing anything they feel they want to believe.
But I do wish the godpods of the world would get on with their own beliefs and stop insisting every one else be as blind and closed minded as they are.
Religious fundamentalists are the biggest threat to the advancement of society that exists.
It is time that is recognised as being what it is.
A way of manipulating the mass of people for the benefit of the few.
Frankly, I see no difference between someone who chooses to believe that the Harry Potter stories are actually true and those who insist all manner of scripture is true.
They are equally delusional.
And as for me, I will make sure they know exactly what I think of their nonsense.
I am sick of godbods of all flavours bullying society in the name of a fictional character just to force people to change to their way of living.
Don't tell me you believe in a 'floaty man in the sky who watches us, loves us and will send us all to hell for eternal punishment' and then expect me to respect those beliefs and take you seriously.
