Christianity: Made in USA

Here we go yet again. At the 40th anniversary of the Moon landing, the Christian right does it again. The moment we thought that Creationism has almost lost the war, they have a come-back. It seems that you cannot just get rid of those morons, just like we will never be able to completely eradicate bugs.

So, now, they want to force religion into the school curriculum in Texas with the state's education board about to consider recommendations that children be taught that there would be no United States if it had not been for God. This is according to an article in the Guardian. Members of the panel include prominent members of the Christian right who believe that Hurricane Katrina and defeat in the Vietnam war were God's punishment for sexual promiscuity and tolerance of homosexuals.

I guess, those morons fail to realise that the US  was founded on secular principles and that the founding fathers insisted on the separation between Church and State. Perhaps those right-wing Christian morons know about it or most probably they just do not care. They are only interested in their agenda and I will not be surprised if they partially succeed. After all the ex- Texan president wanted to teach creationism alongside evolution.

One has to wonder what the heck is going on with the US. What happened to the country which gave us the Apollo Program, the Manhattan Project, Ford, Feynman, even Einstein? What happened to the country which was the most advanced scientific place on the Planet? Is it just me or something is seriously wrong with America? Why are they getting so stupid and obese?

I am currently reading a book by C.P. Pierce: 'Idiot America: How stupidity became a virtue in the land of the free'. It is actually a very interesting read. He claims, and I agree, that idiocy is the mainstream. He blames the media and he is absolutely right. The media are partly to blame for the fact that the average American cares more about Britney or Paris than world news. People are paying more attention to gay-marriage debates than global warming. Instead of paying attention to what scientists say about cancer research, the average American cares about stupid S. Palin and her daughters.

Idiocy has permeated every aspect of American way of life. Mediocracy is the new ideal. Expertise is a faux-pas. You cannot be exceptional or unique because you'll be immediately categorized as an elitist or snobbish. As a result, people pay more attention to morons who shout loud spreading a cacophony of moronic ideas. C.P. Pierce is right when he claims: "Fact is merely what enough people believe, and truth lies only in how fervently they believe it". So here you have it. The morons, backed by their persistence and the media, are spreading their ideas and the average American prefers to believe them instead of the elitist/snobbish scientist who knows better.

This has serious consequences. Science and engineering are not respected anymore. In the name of political correctness, stupid and dangerous ideas are given more time than scientific ones. At a time when people like Larry King ask an evolutionist why do monkeys still exist if evolution is true, what do you expect from the average American who idolizes people like Larry?

Instead of shutting the fak up they are given more opportunities to spread their agenda and there is nothing we can do about it. The US seems to be on a slippery slope to complete stupidification. When America's popular tourist destinations include Creationist museums with models of dinosaurs with saddles, then you know that the country, or big parts of it, are going down. The problem, though, is that the rest of the world is being affected by what and how the US does something. Eight years of Bush's regime taught nothing to the Americans. At the end, the Texans still love him. I wish it was only them. Unfortunately, a big chuck of the country is as stupid as George W. Bush.

I won't be surprised for whatever comes next. Most probably, some wacko-religious Southerner will claim that true Christianity is an American invention and Jesus was actually American (native perhaps?). If I remember correctly, Mormons believe that Jesus spent a big chuck of his life in N. America. So all they have to do is shout loud enough and perhaps the average American will start believing that Jesus was probably a Comanche and Austin is the modern name for Golgotha.

Perhaps all those stupid faks can reenact Jesus crucifixion and spare the rest of the world from their existence. In the land of the morons, stupidity is king!

Actually, there are people who re-enacts the crucifixion, only that it's not the Americans who do it. :D
Sometimes, people really do miss the important issues to focus on. Instead of caring about Lindsay Lohan's next mishap, why don't the government, media, and even the whole population, care about the low unemployment and worldwide crisis...

Bread and circus

I mostly agree with your whole post, but it is not only the media that is to blame, the government in general is perfectly happy to keep the general population stupid, just entertain them and satisfy their basic needs, bread and circus as in ancient rome... the decline and fall of the american empire is close if we take a look at the similarities

Ok you happy? You're right, we're sinners bound for hell.

I'm so damn sick of these right wing hypocrites trying to run and control our world!

At least the rest of us (they deem as sinners going to hell) are honest with our lives!

What you see is what you get.

We don't punish and prosecute those who are committing the same acts as we do in private. Talk about the left hand not admitting to what the right hand is doing.

Do I hear False Prophets anyone?

in full agreement

You are completely right in saying that the media, government and churches are destroying American society. Americans are trained to be obedient monkeys who follow each other. They don't care about important issues unless their favorite celebrity mentions something about it. Meanwhile the media is telling them that beauty and money are more important than anything else. I don't see the situation correcting itself anytime soon.
