What do Choppers, Jihadists & Anti-Depressants Have in Common?

So here I was on a lazy Saturday morning barely awake switching on my brand new Bravia for the latest international news as I was smelling the freshly brewed Colombian coffee. It seemed very pleasant outside and I was looking forward to the nice warm weather and a walk by the beach. I was thinking about the fun I'd have for the rest of the day far away from my cubicle when all of a sudden my tranquillity was interrupted by something that sounded like a big explosion. For a microsecond I felt like I was in the middle of Kabul. I looked at the TV in case BBC was showing the latest Taliban attack, but to my avail, it was showing the latest results from the Ashes. Then another loud bang almost made me dropped my precious coffee on my Polo robe. ‘What The Flying FAK', I thought? I was neither living in Kabul nor in Baghdad and BBC was just showing freaking cricket!

That was when it hit me. That terrible noise was coming from the street and the frequency changes indicated that it was moving very fast indeed. That faking noise was actually a Harley with a ‘fixed' muffler. That was when I completely lost it. I shouted as loud as I could: ‘This is illegal you freakin' redneck!'. But of course, there was no chance in hell that he'd hear my comment.

I started wondering if that was indeed illegal. Perhaps it was, perhaps it wasn't. It does not matter at all. What actually matters is the fact that that bozo thinks that he is free to do whatever fak he wants to his bike. Indeed that is true. He can do whatever fak he wants. Jee, I'll even contribute towards burning that crap of his, if he wants. However, he has no fakin' right to annoy others because it is in his right to play with his penis extension. I don't like bikes with ‘fixed' mufflers. This probably is a remnant from the time I spent in Greece where other morons think that their 50 cc bike is the equivalent of a Ducati. I simply don't get it. How can people be so inconsiderate towards others? Do they realise that they are annoying? But of course they do. However, because they can do it, they simply do it without caring for anybody.

The other day at the office, I was trying to concentrate and review a convoluted report written in particularly bad Engrish. So not only I had to correct the language but I also had to understand what the author wanted to say. As I was about to understand, I started to get distracted by some rather loud discussion. I focused my mind on it in case they were discussing the future of our company or possible lay-offs. No, of course not. People there don't talk about these things. It is not appropriate. Instead, they were discussing about some fakin' football results and which player did what.

Guess what guys: First of all, it is not called just football. It is actually called American football because you have to distinguish that crappy game from what you call soccer, because the rest of the entire world calls it with its true and proper name: Football. What on earth is soccer? Second, there are people who do not care about that stupid game. I don't care about big guys on steroids wearing some Kevlar outfits hitting each other so that they get filthy rich before they get even more damage into their little brains. Third, I am trying to read a fakin' report written in Engrish. Do they realise how difficult that really is? At the end, I am not getting paid to comment on sports. Sorry to break the news to you but we are not actually working for ESPN but for [you don't really expect me to disclose that info, do you?].

What makes these people think that they can be so loud about American football? True, it is in their right to talk about topics they like. But they have no right to bother me when I am just trying to do my job. What makes people think that they have the freedom to do whatever they want without giving a fak for anybody else?

It seems that for some people, the notion of freedom is somewhat twisted. It seems that in the name of their freedom and individuality, some people just don't care if they cause damage to others through their actions. As long as they're free to do whatever they want, that's OK. Let's screw the rest because it is in our right to actually do so. Let's play AC-DC ridiculously loud at 2.00 in the afternoon. It is in our right to do so, after all. Who cares if the grandpa next door had a triple bypass and a seizure? We are probably doing him a favour by trying to make him meet his Creator sooner than anticipated [and no I didn't start believing in Him all of a sudden].

At the end, the notion of true freedom and individuality seem to have taken a wrong turn. Have you ever contemplated what is really going on around you in the name of your freedom? It seems that ‘your freedom' has become a buzz word for establishments who want you to think that their actions are in your best interests. Let me give you a few examples.

Perhaps you have heard of the USA PATRIOT Act, the Guantanamo Detention Camp, or the Rendition Program. All of them are ‘tools' to fight terrorists and keep Americans and their Allies free to go about their everyday lives without fear of jihadists ready to blow themselves up or do whatever they think necessary to guarantee them a place in Heaven with 72 virgins. [By the way, this is one of the sickest lies that a religion has ever fabricated: Promise a lot of pussy in Heaven if you die for God].

Anyway, have you ever really thought what those three things mentioned above actually do? Not only they strip liberties from Americans but they also grossly violate Human Rights. In the name of ‘freedom', the US govt is allowed to tap into your phones and e-mails, detain you indefinitely without pressing any charges or seeing a lawyer [yes, I know, lawyers], terrorize and torture innocent people. All that in the name of ‘freedom'. Sorry guys, but I cannot be fooled by their BS. They are just trying to create an Orwellian State similar to 1984. What makes you think that govts have your freedom in mind? Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. They just found an excuse to control people and violate their rights. Only this time they do it for your freedom, stoopid. The Big Brother really cares about you.

Of course, the notion of freedom isn't only used and abused by govts. Religious establishments also use it for their goals. It is really ‘true freedom' to teach Intelligent Design as an alternative to Darwin's Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection in public schools. After all, Evolution is only a theory. Not only those bozos fail to understand that in the English language the word ‘theory' has multiple meanings, but they completely and utterly deny science, history and archaeology. Believing that Evolution is just a theory is like believing that the Earth is flat or that the Holocaust never happened. But in the name of religious freedoms, some morons want to teach lies in school and put them on a level pegging to science. Jee, if only denying Evolution was considered as bad as denying the Holocaust!

Do you see what happens in the name of religious freedoms? Religious wachos are trying to plunge the world back into the Dark Ages where any type of science was considered a Devil's tool unless it provided an advantage to Christian Despotism. Hooray for the Holly Inquisition! The same people also talk about the right to life of a few weeks unborn foetus even in the case of rape, yet they have no problem in murdering doctors who perform necessary abortions because God told them so.

The same people who are shouting in favour of their religious rights are exactly the same people who caused havoc all over the world because of some inappropriate Cartoons of their Prophet. This hypocrisy, I fail to understand. It is OK for them to try and tell me how to live my life or what my kids will be taught in school, but the moment somebody dares to say or write something bad about their religion they get offended and become violent. All that, in the name of ‘freedom'; of the freedom as they see it, of course. Am I missing something here? Unfortunately, the hijack of ‘freedom' is not only endemic to govts or religions. It seems that it has become the new weaponry to all establishments which seek either power and/or money. Because people were ‘free' to live the American Dream and get a gargantuan house, financial institutions were more than willing to provide them with sub-prime mortgages. A whole market worth billions was created because of that scam. When the boat started to sink, the poor tax-payer who had lost his house and savings pull out the left-overs to save the sinking boat. All that because it is considered moral to gamble with other people's hopes. After all, all these people deserved what they got since they had the freedom to get a smaller house or save instead of invest. We were also scared into believing that some of those institutions were too big to fail. Guess what; if they are too big to fail, they are also too big to exist.

People have so much freedom these days, they just do not know what to do with it. We have the freedom to choose between, at least, three impotent drugs, pills which act as add-on treatments to antidepressants and pills about anything you can possibly think off. Just ask your doctor because you have so much freedom to choose. Actually, you must be overwhelmed from all those choices. Perhaps you should take the new pill called ‘Dolphinify^TM' to distress you from that.

We have so many choices when we go grocery shopping. Just before I go to a super market a mile down the road from home, I swallow at least two anti-depressants, get my 4^th gen. iPod, and drive my gargantuan gas guzzler even if it actually takes longer than walking. Don't forget, that we have the freedom to drive everywhere, unlike those poor Europeans who are forced to take the train. So, I get into this huge building full of choices. I just don't know what to do with the freedom to choose between 40 different toilet papers. [For the record, I still cannot find the condoms I used to use back in Europe. WTF happened to normal ones? Sorry but that's one thing that Europeans have better: Condoms, and well, trains. Obviously they ride more; trains I mean.].

Come one guys! Why do we need 40 different bug rolls or 30 different toothpastes? But, of course, because we like the freedom to choose; as we like the freedom to choose from all those crappy microwave and/or diet meals that are just good for us. Yet again, in the name of freedom, the food industry is making us believe that their products are just good for us and we really need the choice between 10 or 20 preservatives. At the end, a large proportion of the population will get cancer, anyway, because of the crappy food we eat. But don't worry! The big pharmas and the hospitals will be waiting to milk your last drop. Just hope that you won't have a pre-existing condition...

Do you see a pattern emerging here? In the name of freedom, all those bozos are actually afflicting pain upon our true freedom. The choice between different pills for the side-effects of other pills is not real freedom. Freedom is to say fak off to all of them because you don't actually need the majority of those pills. Freedom is not the teaching of creationism as an alternative to science. Freedom is to remove ourselves from all superstitious and unfounded belief systems which have caused pain and suffering to humanity all those millennia. If you want to believe that Santa Claus exists, please do so outside my school. I don't think in your church; why do you want to pray in my school? Freedom is not to go and kill a doctor or carry guns everywhere. Freedom is to respect women choices and finally realise that they are equal to men. Freedom is not to have the choice of one gas guzzler from another while denying climate change. Freedom is to have a good public transport system where you sit down on the way to work and read your book of choice while listening to your legally downloaded music in your iPod.

In general, the idea of true freedom has been hijacked by greedy and twisted motherfokers who will do anything to actually strip us from true freedoms: The freedom to live in peace, without wars, without famine, without illnesses, without global warming, without superstition, without fear of who we are. That's the meaning of real freedom. Everything else is actually called illusion.
