To document the passing of another Halloween, it is only appropriate to talk about the ‘Hell House’ craze which was originally started by Jerry Fallwell and has now spread throughout the US. Thanks religious fanatics for another awesome scare tactic/guilt trip to send more people into religion-induced states of brain inactivity! The more crap like this starts to pop up around the US the less it becomes “fanaticism” and the more it becomes the “norm” which to me is scary as hell! Congratulations to these Christians for actually frightening an atheist with some of your contrived bullsh*t. Ok, it didn’t scare me into being religious and worrying about “being saved” but now I’m faking terrified about my actual life, the one I have now!

I recently watched Hell House a 2001 documentary about the making of a ‘Hell House’ by a church in Texas. If this wasn’t disturbing enough, you can now find hell houses like this one that not only completely warp minds into being non-questioning Christians, it also has a political motive behind it! This is faking outrageous! How often do I have to ask “what happened to separation of church and state”?!? The “Hell Hospital” which is referred to in the above article is not only completely fabricated bullsh*t it is also aggressively racist! Is this what we were meant to have when the founding fathers came up with freedom of speech and freedom of religion?? If so, then maybe I would like to decline that “freedom”! Just as Pericles elaborates in his article, the “freedom” to choose between one piece of sh*t and another piece of sh*t is not actually a freedom. The “freedom” to oppress someone else is also not a freedom. Just because you have the “freedom” to be an ignorant racist arsehole does not mean that is how you should act.
I don’t ever remember while growing up, sitting down and thinking someday I’d like to be an ignorant unreasonable fakhead that doesn’t listen to logical arguments or respect people. And because of the innate goodness of humankind, I am pretty sure that I was not the only kid that thought this way. So, who may I ask is planting these seeds to segregate and oppress others? You guessed it, after all it is my favorite answer, religion! Another possible answer is power hungry fakers striving for world domination that manipulate people through fear and drive people into servitude by leaving them penniless in a capitalistic society. Ah, it is the age old question, isn’t it? Who came first… the religious fanatical manipulative fak or the capitalist greedy power-hungry fak? What if they end up being the same person, does that mean he just faked himself?

I don't think you are being
I don't think you are being fair in your bashing of religion and churches. Just like fanatical churches, there are fanatical athiests. The thing I find amusing is how athiests take such fun and pride in bashing christians, but hardly ever a word is mentioned about muslims or mohammed. Why is this? Because christians are supposed to turn the other cheek and a muslim will blow your arse's up?
Something to consider when you lump a whole group in your bashing is that there is good and bad in all. Good cops, bad cops, good christians, bad people who claim to be christian, etc.
Personally, I think it is far easier to believe in creation than evolution. To think that all the wonders around us, air, water, clouds, trees, grass, rain, soil, how the balance of our solar system is so perfectly in place, all came from an explosion in outer space is rather absurd. Take the intricacies of the human eye. Im open to listening and hearing opposing arguments as I strive to find truth. The only truth I have found thus far has been in the Holy Bible. But thats just me.
Truth comes from investigation, not storytelling
You are correct in that I do tend to lean on arguing against the Christian church in my writing. The truth of the matter is that Christians are the people affecting me in every day life and since this pressure is more obvious to me, I tend to react stronger to it. However, believe me, that I find extremists of any kind dangerous.
As to your comments regarding the big bang and evolution, well they are whole lifetimes of science devoted to these subjects and I cannot pretend to scratch the surface here. I have just began reading Darwin's "On the Origin of Species", it is good read, I suggest you check it out if you are looking for truth. If you have read the bible and the creationist theories, Darwin will be a good balance for you. I also recommend reading "The Selfish Gene" by Richard Dawkins though I know he is famous for his atheism he is an evolutionary biologist and a very captivating author. Finally, if you are more into listening in on your iPod, subscribe to the RadioLab podcasts from NPR (WNYC). They touch on evolution several times during their many podcasts and they have a whole number of other fun science things to learn about as well. They devote a lot of time to space-time and universes and talk about science in a very accessible and fun way. Anyways, the pursuit of truth is never-ending and I encourage you to keep on that path, just try to diversify your knowledge sources.

First things first
Actually, if you have read our blog you would have realized that us ATHEISTS bash Islam a lot more that Christianity because it is way more violent, these days, than your religion. Effectively Islamists repeat the mistakes of the Christian faith. In addition, if you want to believe that an imaginary friend created the world it is your choice. If you want to find truth in a mythological book that accepts violence, so be it. However, unless you make an effort to understand a little bit of science including the Big Bang, evolution by natural selection and why the eye has been evolved instead of being created by a super-natural entity, please do not bore us with such things. All the contributors of this blog brought up in religion. We have heard almost everything and we decided long ago that it just does not make sense.
I agree with you. If the
I agree with you. If the Church really wants to "save" the people from eternal damnation, the best way is not to scare the hell out of them.
Sure, it's effective, but it means that we're only scared of the Church itself, and not of the "punishments" that we may experience one day. And that' just dumb... when did religion became scary?
There has to be a better way for them to do it...
disturbing
Wow that is very disturbing. I knew the church went too far sometimes, but this is just ridiculous. I guess as religion declines in society they have to get more aggressive in their recruitment efforts. I don't know how they justify straight up brain washing people though.
