According to the BBC web site [1] the head of the Mozambique Catholic Church believes that some European-made condoms are deliberately infected with AIDS. He further claims that some anti-retroviral drugs are also infected with HIV. Apparently, he believes the European Union wants to finish off the African people.

It is not the first time that the Catholic Church has tried to undermine the WHO's efforts to reduce the African AIDS epidemic by using ridiculous claims. Back in 2004, Vatican officials claimed that the HIV virus can pass through microscopic holes of the condom material. The excellent BBC program PANORAMA [2]exposed all those crazy religious freaks.

The official position of the Christian churches on sex and the use of condoms is well known. Copulate only to pro-create. Sex for pleasure is a sin. The use of condoms is forbidden by God (I doubt if such a clause exists in the Bible, since condoms weren't invented yet). However, there is only one truth regardless of any doctrine. Humans, like many other primates (e.g. bonobos), have sex for fun. It is evolutionary and cannot be changed.

It is time for the Church to stop spreading lies, for a change, and assist the efforts of WHO through the powerful influence it exerts on the people of Africa. But this is what is all about. INFLUENCE & POWER. At a time when Europe gradually moves towards secular humanism, mainly because of education and previous atrocities like witch burning, Christianity and the Vatican become insignificant and hence powerless. Therefore, it is not a coincidence that the Church has turned its attention to Africa. It is yet another power struggle for dominance in the name of a God, who, most probably, does not exist. That is why the Catholic and Protestant clergy helped both sides of the Rwanda genocide [3].

How long will the people of Africa and this planet have to suffer in the name of religious beliefs and bigotry? We had Crusades, witch burning, Holy Inquisition, genocides, mass murders, terrorist attacks, sectarian violence; all in the name of a God.

Although we cannot change the past, we can affect the present and future. These days, people who commit atrocities are convicted for crimes against humanity. Some clergy are also found guilty [4] for genocide. It is time to bring more of the high-ranking Church officials to justice for passive genocide through the spread of inaccurate information regarding such things as condoms, when if used properly, can save lives. Discouraging condom usage in this way promotes death via HIV. No matter what the church's doctrine, people in Africa are going to engage in sex so why not encourage them to do it safely rather than lying to them and scaring them from using something that could save their lives and prevent the spread of this epidemic. Arm them with protection; don't disarm them with misinformation. Enough is enough with indoctrination, propaganda, bigotry and hatred generated by the religious establishments.
